Katherine Bicknell is a founding member of The Horse in Motion and currently serves as the Development Director. Past work with The Horse in Motion include IRL: Reddit, Crazed, a workshop with the On The Boards Open Studio Program and Attempts on Her Life (THIM). She can also be seen in the webseries Real Adult Feelings and Bros For Hire. Katherine is currently serving as the Audience Development Director at Annex Theatre.
Nathan Brockett is a recent transplant to the Northwest from Austin, TX! He graduated with a BA in Theatre Performance and just completed a two-year Meisner acting program. Recent Seattle credits include The Rocky Horror Show at SMT, Zapoi! at Annex Theatre and Into the Woods with STAGEright. Love and thanks to Sophia.
Liza Curtiss is a proud member of the Satori Group. With her company she has assistant directed, written, and acted in numerous plays and workshops. Most recently she was seen in Satori’s reWiliding and Pony World's Or, The Whale. Liza is excited to be exploring new work with a new group of collaborators and thanks The Horse In Motion for the opportunity.
Amy Can Can’t wait to serve up some Brecht and bacon with the Horse in Motion. This summer she was one of six director/playwrights in the Zig Zag Festival at Annex Theater, where her play Scary Mary and the Nightmares Nine premiered, exposing her love of shadow puppets, spooks and puns. She also practiced the Bunraku style of puppetry as the title character in Little Red Riding Hood with Thistle Theatre. Other recent appearances: The Journey of the Bell: Tales of Wonder and Adventure from Hans Christian Anderson (14/48 Projects), Quickies Vol. 16 (Live Girls! Theatre), Bunnies (Annex Theater) and Savage/Love (Pocket Theater).
Harry Todd Jamieson
Harry is very pleased to be working with TheHorse In Motion for the first time. Harry is a freelance actor, director, sound designer, and teaching artist and has worked in these disciplines locally and regionally at such theaters as The Seattle Shakespeare Company and Wooden O Theater, Book-It Repertory Theater, Seattle Repertory Theater, The Seattle Opera, ArtsWest Playhouse, Seattle Public Theater, Sandbox Artists' Collective, Balagan Theater, Annex Theater, The Collision Project, 14/48: The World's Quickest Theater Festival, Northwest Playwrights Alliance, Shakespeare Walla Walla, and Cornish College of the Arts, among others. Harry is a graduate of Western Washington University where he received his BA in Drama.
Sylvia Kowalski is a senior at the University ofWashington studying Drama, Astronomy and Physics. She was last seen on the Undergraduate Theater Society Cabaret stage as Alexandra in On the Verge. In addition to making music and playing pretend, Sylvia enjoys tooting her trumpet, looking for exo-planets and working at the Pacific Science Center. Her favorite breakfast food is Huevos Rancheros and she hopes that our production of BrechtFest is your favorite food of the day! She would like to thank her biological and BrechtFest families, her Branbus, the munchkins and Dr. Kidd for their unwavering support and wisdom!
Adria has recently appeared in The Tall Girls and Ed, Downloaded both with Washington Ensemble Theatre, 4000 Miles at ArtsWest, Owen Meany'sChristmas Pageant at Book-It, and Cat in the Hat at Seattle Children's Theatre. She has also performed various other local theaters including GreenStage, Annex, Macha Monkey, Pony World and Blood Ensemble. Adria graduated with a BA in Theatre from Western Washington University in 2008 and by day is employed as a chocolatier at Theo Chocolate.
Chris Lee Hill
Chris is happy to make his third comeback with The Horse in Motion since first appearing in their debut production, Attempts On Her Life. Recent credits include IRL: Reddit (The Horse in Motion), Sprawl (Washington Ensemble Theatre), and The 1st Seattle One-Minute Play Festival (Washington Ensemble Theatre. Aside from acting, Chris enjoys photography and writing. He earned his BA in Drama from University of Washington in 2011
Kevin Lin is ecstatic to be working with The Horse in Motion again and was last seen in IRL: Reddit. This summer, he was part of Intiman Theatre’s Emerging Artist Program, as well as Pork Filled Productions’ The Tumbleweed Zephyrand SIS Productions’ Paper Angels. He recently starred in Community Asian Theatre of the Sierras’ production ofHotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweetdown in Nevada City, California, for which he received an Elly nomination for Best Leading Male. Kevin will also perform in Seattle Public Theater’s upcoming production of Amadeus. Other credits include UW School of Drama, REBATEnsemble, UW Undergraduate Theatre Society, ReAct Theatre, Infinity Box Theatre Project, Book-It Repertory Theatre, and Davenport Theatrical.
Jocelyn is so happy to once again be collaborating with The Horse In Motion. Previously she has worked with them on Attempts on Her Life andIRL:Reddit. Around town Jocelyn has also had the pleasure of working with ACT, Seattle Public Theater, Macha Monkey, 14/48 and Book-It. Love and thanks to her friends and family.
Nic Morden grew up in Spokane and graduated from the University of Washington in 2012. Nic studied LeCoq, the work of Tadeusz Kantor and Brechtian musical performance in Pontlevoy, France. He recently co-starred in the horror film, Dead Body. Nic was last onstage in Attempts on Her Life and is a co-founder of the Horse in Motion
Andrew Pritzkau studied performance at the University of Washington. He is a member of The Horse in Motion ensemble. He was last seen onstage in THIM's production of Attempts on Her Life. Outside of theatre he enjoys writing, jazz music, and clumsily playing Bruce Springsteen songs on the guitar. He would one day like to learn how to write a good bio as well.
Hannah is proud to be both a member of The Horse in Motion and performing for you today. Recently, she appeared in Sound Theatre Company's Indian Inkand Washington Ensemble Theatre'sThe Tall Girls at the new 12th Ave Arts Center as well as in My First Time at Centerstage Arts Conservatory. Last summer, she performed in a new work entitled The Wasteland Sisters, which premiered at Summerhall in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Other favorite credits include Cavale inCowboy Mouth (Penthouse Theatre), Jenny in Vaclav Havel's The Beggar's Opera (UW School of Drama), Roxane inCyrano (UW UTS). Hannah is graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Drama. She is also proud member of The Seagull Project.
Matthew Sherrill makes his first appearance with THIM. Graduating with a BFA in Acting from Chicago's DePaul University, he moved to Seattle a year ago and has been active in the theatre community. He recently completed the Intiman Emerging Artist Program, and previous Seattle credits include Wizzer Pizzer (Theatre22), Picasso at the Lapin Agile (Twelfth Night Productions), Tiny Tim is Dead (Play Factory Theatre), along with work at Ballard Underground, Studio4Seattle, and others. You may also have seen him as the Bartell's Holiday Elf for the 2014 Bartell's Drugstore Winter Promotion. Along with Brechtfest, He is currently understudying in John Baxter is a Switch Hitter (Intiman) and will soon embark on Book-It Theatre's touring production of Secret Garden.
Dylan is beyond thrilled and thankful to be working with this generous, open, and collaborative company that is Horse in Motion, as well as for his fellow cast mates for their passion and support. This show has been a phenomenal, new experience and is going to be a good one. Past theatrical roles include, Don Nordo, in Don Nordo Del Midwest (Cafe Nordo), Oronte, in School for Lies(Sound Theater), and Don Juan, in Don Juan in Chicago (Auroet). Thank you to his family and friends for their continuous support and he hopes you enjoy the food and the journey.
Shaudi Vahdat—Musical Director
Shaudi is a Seattle-based theatre artist and musician and a founding member of The Horse in Motion. Recent credits include IRL: Reddit (The Horse in Motion), Sprawl (Washington Ensemble Theatre), Attempts on Her Life (THIM), and Crazed, a workshop with THIM and the On The Boards Open Studios program. Shaudi is a graduate of the University of Washington Schools of Drama and Music and is also a member of Washington Ensemble Theatre. Upcoming projects include Left, an original album to be released this year. She is honored to be working with this wonderful team!
Bobbin Ramsey is a Seattle-based director, producer and educator. A co-founder and Executive Director of The Horse in Motion, BrechtFest is one of her largest productions yet. She previously directed Attempts on her Life, and White History Month: A Poem for Reddit for The Horse in Motion's event IRL:Reddit. She is also a Resident Director and Associate Producer for the Washington Ensemble Theatre where, in Spring 2016 she will be directing the world premiere of Susan Soon He Stanton's The Things Are Against Us. She has worked with many local companies including Intiman Theatre Festival, Book-It Repertory, ACT, Arts on the Waterfront, Studio East, and 14/48: The World's Quickest Theatre Festival. She holds a BA from the University of Washington in Directing in Drama and Creative Writing.
Mary Hubert—Associate Director/Dramaturge
Mary is a director and producer in the Seattle area. She is a co-founder of The Horse in Motion, and is currently the Financial Director and Events Coordinator. Past work with The Horse in Motion includes production managing the IRL: Reddit original play series and performing in Attempts On Her Life, as well as directing Crazed, which premiered at On the Boards this past winter. Since graduating from the University of Washington in 2013, Mary has also had the pleasure of working with One Coast Collaboration, The Satori Group, Washington Ensemble Theatre, and The Young Playwrights Festival. She is the Development Director at Annex Theatre, and the Arts Director of the South Seattle Emerald.
Ben Philips—Associate Director
Ben Phillips is a co-founder of the Horse in Motion, and currently serves as the company manager and marketing director. Past work with the Horse in Motion includes directing an original play for IRL: Reddit, a festival of new work inspired by Reddit topics, and performing in the company’s inaugural production of Attempts on Her Life. Other recent work includes touring the state as an actor and teaching artist with Book-It Repertory Theatre’s productions of Danger: Books! and A Day’s Work, as well as performing on the Book-It mainstage in The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, and in Waiting for Godot with Arts on the Waterfront. Ben is passionate about the role of art in civic engagement, which he brings also to his work with Citizen University, a national organization that teaches and promotes powerful citizenship.
Liz Stasio—Stage Manager
Liz is a native Seattlite who works as a retail minion by day, stage manages by night, and makes everything conceivable out of tape. Stage management and other backstage credits include work with: the Driftwood Players, Stone Soup Theatre, Eclectic Theater, Snoqualmie Falls Forest Theatre, Book-It Repertory Theatre, and Fantastic.Z Theatre Company. She also serves as the production manager for Fantastic.Z. Upcoming: Mad Scientist Cabaret with Annex Theatre.
Ryan Dunn—Lighting Designer
Ryan is a Seattle-based lighting, scenic, and projection designer whose work has been seen recently at Intiman Theatre Festival (Orpheus Descending), Artswest (Angry Housewives, Judy’s Scary Little Christmas), Annex Theatre (Is She Dead Yet?, Zapoi!, Horse Girls), Pacific Northwest Ballet (Le Corsaire, Next Step 2014), Macha Monkey (And, and, and Isabella Bootlegs), Seattle Repertory Theatre (Franklin Teen Speak), and The Horse in Motion (Attempts on Her Life), among others. Ryan is a graduate of the University of Washington, the resident designer for The Horse in Motion, and an affiliate artist with Umbrella Project.
Brandon Estrella—Props Designer
Brandon Estrella is a graduate of Seattle University and founding member of The New Alchemists. He is stoked to finally be working with Horse in Motion. Over the last few years, his designs have been featured throughout the greater Seattle Area. Some of his recent work has been featured with Pacific Play Company (Everybody Here Says Hello, Crime and Rockets), the Intiman’s Emerging Artists Showcase, SIS Productions (Paper Angels), STAGEright Theatre (Are You There God? It’s Me Karen Carpenter), Macha Monkey Productions (and, and, and…Isabella Bootlegs), Handwritten Productions (Sex’d), and Ghost Light Theatrical (Gogolplex, The 4th Graders Present an Unnamed Murder Suicide). Ali Rose Panzarella—Costume Designer
Ali Rose loves waffles with huckleberry and coffee in the A.M. She is currently working on 99 Ways with WET and TBLV, a short film directed by Neil Ferron. Previous work is found on www.alirosepanzarella.com
Jack Dearth—Assistant Music Director
Jack Dearth is an actor, musician, and ski instructor from Port Orchard, WA who is currently living and working in Seattle after graduating with a BA from the UW School of Drama. Recently, Jack has performed and worked with Bold Print Theatre Company in Hedwig and the Angry Inch as Skszp the guitarist, Never Swim Alone as Frank, and in various roles in Street Shakes. This is Jack's second time working with The Horse in Motion, having played bass for IRL: Reddit, and his first production as an assistant music director, and he is excited to get to use the knowledge he has gained as a musician and performer in a new way.
Jonathan Graber has appeared as piano accompanist, violin or viola soloist, chamber and pit musician, Concertmaster, and conductor throughout the United States as well as in Austria, France, and Honduras. In the United States, he has taught full-time at two colleges and one university and has worked with many youth orchestra programs as coach or conductor. In 2008-09, Jonathan worked as a Fulbright Scholar as a Visiting Professor at the National Autonomous University of Honduras. While in Honduras, he served as Visiting Concertmaster and appeared as soloist with that country’s national symphony. He holds a Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music (Boston) and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Washington.
Jonathan Shue is an actor and singer-songwriter born in Palo Alto, California who now resides in Seattle, Washington. He has performed in award-winning regional and children’s theatre nationally and internationally. He has self-released two studio albums, Chasing Hurricanes and Little City on his label, Vintage Sunburst Recordings, and is a graduate of the Master of Fine Arts Professional Actor Training Program at the University of Washington.
A Seattle native and graduate of the University of Washington School of Drama, Joey's regional acting work has lately taken him from Memphis to Maine. He's so glad to be returning to Seattle with Brecht on his plate. Joey is a multi-instrumentalist and singer with roots in rock-n-roll and blues guitar. He's played such venues as El Corazon, Northwest Folklife Festival, and the Garfield High School Talent Show. He now writes music and designs sound for theatre, and is currently cooking up an album of original songs.
A native Texan, Rollie came to Seattle for UW and the city's music scene. In addition to playing bass guitar, Rollie produces electronic music and is an avid dancer. He played a small role in Attempts on Her Life and is even more excited to support the Horse in Motion musically.
